After crossing the border into Hungary we headed for Tihany – a village on the northern shore of Lake Balaton. We noticed a significant increase in the heat compared to Austria. Turns out Elodie is not well adapted to a hot climate with all her extra insulation.

Though we were only passing through Hungary briefly we thought we would pack in some Hungarian Cuisine. We had a lunch of chicken paprikash, served with a large bowl of extra paprika, and Hungarian Goulash. Following this we had a wander through Tihany, which is blooming with lavender everywhere – turns out to be the symbol of the Tihany peninsula.

We continued our journey through Hungary towards the Romanian border, and settled for our second night near Szeged. This was a nice quiet wild camping spot, just next to a bird watching outpost. Though we had to keep a close eye on Lola due to warning signs reporting rabid foxes in the area.
